Huckabees Blog Post

Looking back at the movie I <3 Huckabees I must say that the quote that stuck me the most was near the beginning of the film when its said “Everything is the same, even if it’s different.” –Bernard + The Blanket. The whole concept in itself was just very compelling to me because it started off with the character Bernard grabbing a blanket and putting it over his hands and then moving his hands around under the blanket mentioning certain things in the world. Yet tying it back to the fact that from the spectrum of looking at the blanket even though he was mention different things it was all the same. I never really heard someone approach life this way. This could be used when talking about humans, we are all the same even if we different ethnicities, height, weight, ect. That whole scene was really the main thing that stood out to me in the movie. Another scene which also really caught my attention was when the women was in the main character’s house and she was basically trying to tie many things back to his mother that seemed to occur in his life such as the death of his cat. I found this scene interesting because the woman was shown in action basically tearing away all the layers and getting down the true roots of the problem. She seemed to upset the mother yet progress was made when everything was tied back to the death of the main character’s cat (I believe his name was brad, I’m not really to sure though). I also realize that that approach or tactic could be used in everyday life as people try to look for the real source or root to certain problems that they have in their lives. Aside from those two things I really was lost throughout most of the film because of the unusual plotline. A lot of the time I was just trying to absorb what was going on in each scene instead of analyzing just so I didn’t completely get lost. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to see the ending of the film and so most of my questions still remained unanswered and I’m still somewhat confused as to where the film was actually going. All in all it was funny film and very enjoyable to watch and the cast was brilliant. Hopefully someday I will be able to finish watching and really grasp the whole concept of the film.
